Los Amigos de La Peņita (Los Amigos), is a community service organization comprised of residents and members of the local community and exists to serve and advocate for the people of La Peņita, the surrounding Colonias, and the community at large.
RIVIERA NAYARIT - But where is La Peņita?
The coast of Nayarit is being promoted as "A 100 mile stretch of Pacific Beachfront 10 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta International Airport with
world-class resorts, intimate hotels & quaint seaside villages ...cascading green mountains and rolling blue Pacific form your borders on either side as you amble through seaside pueblos ".
Yet click on this map of the Nayarit coast on the Ministry of Tourism web site and La Peņita, with its long beachfront, fishing boats, mountain views, bank, medical clinics, shops and other services used by nearby towns, is nowhere to be seen. Why not?

Plans to rejeuvenate La Peņita's main avenida and plaza
- Marconi, President of the Municipality, has promised a rejuvenation program for the main avenida in La Peņita
- Every 50 meters a new lamp post will be installed from the highway to
the beach for a total of 50 lamp posts.
- The fountain, benches and planters will be rejuvenated.
On Wednesday, January 23, Marconi will be in Peņita to lay the
cornerstone for this project.
- Nicholas from Los Ayala has volunteered to design an upgrade for our town square with new trees, flowers, etc. which he will donate.
Eventually he will be looking for volunteers to help with this beautification project.
