MEETING MINUTES

Los Amigos de La Peñita - April 27, 2009, General Meeting Summary

There were 18 individuals in attendance, including 15 members.

The Agenda for the meeting was approved as were the Minutes from the March 30 Meeting.

Recycling Committee:

Vern reports that he and Ken has met with the Hotel Association and the idea of taking part in the recycling program was well received, they also mention the fact that it would be very good to separate cardboard and aluminum, but for now only plastic will be recycled, we expect good results from working together, with the quantity that we expect to collect it is possible that with the sale of plastics this can become a self-sufficient program economically speaking.

Soon there will be a meeting in with representatives of the municipality, hotel managers, street vendors and different organizations to discuss the topic of the recycling garbage.

Scholarship Committee:

A total of 91 applications were received, which were analyzed and 15 finalists have been selected from Conalep, the Secondary and Preparatory schools of Jaltemba, the committe was planning to interview 15 finalists this week but due to the suspension of classes it was rescheduled for the following week, after the interviews 6 students will be selected to receive the scholarships

Education Committee:

After giving a brief summary of the intention of the Education Committee, Johan presented a proposal in which it requests that the committee of Los Amigos join the Rotary Club's education committee so that the projects planned have sufficient resources to complete them and not only the La Colonia kinder project; to accomplish this would require a name change and we would need to work hand in hand with Rotary Club.

Ken requested that Johan and members table the motion, so that the executive committee discuss and analyze it, the membership approved Ken's offer 18 votes in favor, 2 in against and 1 abstention, executive committee will report to the education committee by the next general membership meeting.

Election of National Vice President and National Secretary:

Nominations were solicited for the position of National Vice-President and National Secretary. Soraida Aguirre Valderrama was nominated for National Vice-President and voted in unanimously. Aida Vega Reyes was nominated for National Secretary and voted in unanimously. The membership welcomed them as new members of the Executive Committee.

Eco Park:

Work is progressing in the park, the foundation for the bleachers has begun, the fence around the park is complete, the lights are turned on from 7:30 to 10:00 pm and the bases for the main arch entry has been built, the roof has been installed in the bathroom and the stage building has begun.

Ken moved to adjourn the meeting, Bob seconded, meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be on May 11.
